Breeders
Trust Program Overview:
Breeders Trust
payout more than $1 million for 2005:
The American Paint Horse Association’s (APHA)
Breeders Trust, an incentive program for Paint Horse
owners, exhibitors, racers and breeders, will pay
out a record $1,044,017. This was the third
consecutive year the program paid out more than $1
million — with an increase of more than $35,000 over
2004’s total.
Breeders Trust incentive funds are
based on a point value system, with each point being
worth a specific amount of money. The 2005 value was
$15.238 per point. Yearly dividends are paid to
subscribed stallion owners, foal nominators and
recorded owners of horses enrolled in the program.
In the Breeders Trust program, the
stallion subscriber receives 20 percent of the
dividend, the foal nominator 10 percent, and the
foal’s recorded owner on December 31 of the showing
year 70 percent.
Zippos Sensation’s foals earned the
most money in 2005, making the 13-year-old sorrel
overo the Number 1 Breeders Trust Stallion for the
fifth consecutive year. Seventy-three of his foals
earned a total of $82,091.29, which was about
$25,000 more than his foals earned the previous
year.
“Zippo,” who is sired by Zippo Pine
Bar AQHA and out of Satin N Lace, is owned by Simons
Show Horses of Aubrey, Texas. The stallion was bred
by Joe Bachmuth of Cullman, Alabama.
For the second year in a row, the
top money-earning horse is Fleetstreet Max, a
9-year-old sorrel overo gelding owned by Alisa
Bernhard of Germantown, Wisconsin. “Max” earned
1,201 points for a total dividend of $18,301.86.
