Placing horses
in a catalog is almost identical to creating classified ads, so the
online instructions are geared to setting up a classified. Once
you have been added as a member of the ApCHA catalog, you will
have an extra 2 links on your management menu (highlighted here in
color, above.
Choose the "Add Catalog Horse"
link for all your ApCHA member perk ads.
The
first field you encounter when entering a catalog horse is the
name of each catalog to which you are a member. It is a
drop-down list of all catalogs in which you are a member.
It looks like this:
Important to understand:
When catalog members enter information for a
catalog horse, your ad does not appear online instantly. This is because the catalog manager controls "activation" of each catalog horse submitted by members of their online catalog.
Click
HERE to have our webmaster activate your ads.
The purpose for this is to allow the catalog manager to check the information before going online for public view. The manager also has the ability to deactivate, edit, or even delete a catalog entry. Obviously, they need the ability to do this, and by restricting those functions, a "member" does not have to worry about the possibility of making a serious mistake affecting the entire catalog or causing extra work for the manager.
"Lot Numbers" This field appears on the catalog submission forms,
but not on classified ads. These are not assigned by the computer, so you are free to number and re-number, replace scratched horses, etc.
Note: Use numbers only. This is a
"Required Field" ... meaning that each cataloged horse must be
assigned a number. You may skip numbers, but it is not a
good idea to use the same number more than once.
You can check with Liz Kincaid if you are not sure what number to
assign . . . or assign number 999 as a temporary number until you
know a permanent one.
These numbers are
necessary to make the Arrow Navigation work correctly for your online
catalog visitors, so they can browse your catalog directly from
page to page by clicking the "Next" or "Previous" arrows.
Members DO have the ability to make changes in their catalog horse entries, such as editing the information, changing a photo, etc.
This is accomplished by logging in to your user account, clicking the
"Edit Catalog Horse" link, then selecting (clicking)
the horse name from the list
of horses placed under this user account. This will open that horse's entry form which will contain all the data currently submitted for that horse. Make your changes and click the "update" button at the bottom of the page.
More online instructions for placing ads:
Please notice the list of topics in the vertical menu at the left side
of each page. This menu should cover nearly any function you should
encounter. If not, you can click the last link in that menu, which is
"Email for HELP." That is the webmaster's address, and a live person
will send specific instructions for your problem. You may also reach
the webmaster by phone at: 785-456-8600.
A single "user" account should be the only one you need, now and in the
future.
It is important
NOT to set up additional user accounts, because that will cause an incomplete index of your horses to come up when people click the
"view our current listings" link that appears on every catalog or classified page, as well as on your ranch page.
If you should happen to have multiple user accounts already, please get in touch with Andrea
by
EMAIL to combine all your ads into one account before
creating your catalog entry!
If you are not sure if you have multiple accounts set up, we
will check on that for you.
