Appaloosas From Around The Globe Compete
At The World Championship Appaloosa Show

Nov 19, 2004 from ApHC :

Moscow, Idaho—Competition reached new limits with 1,000 Appaloosas from around the world converging on Fort Worth, Texas, at the Will Rogers Memorial Center for the World Championship Appaloosa Show Oct. 29 – Nov. 6.

During the nine-day event, the world’s top Appaloosas competed for World Championship titles in 135 classes including Cattle, Western, English, Jumping, Games and Halter. Additionally four new classes were included to the show – Masters Non-Pro Showmanship, Masters Non-Pro Hunt Seat Equitation, Masters Non-Pro Western Equitation, and Non-Pro Most Colorful at Halter.

Appaloosa enthusiasts also competed in unique classes only offered in the Appaloosa breed such as horse-against-horse games and Native American Heritage. The show boasted more than 2,400 class entries in both the non-pro and open divisions.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP APPALOOSA SALE
Held in conjunction with the Show was the annual World Championship Appaloosa Sale, managed by the Appaloosa Horse Club, Inc. Featuring some of the best Appaloosas in the industry, the sale offered premium quality Appaloosas whose average sale price increased by about 45% over last year’s average, with the top five horses averaging $11,440. The ApHC presented plaques to the consignors of the high-selling stallion, mare, and gelding.

The high-selling stallion was ZIPPOS SCOTCH BAR, who went for $15,500. He was consigned by Scott and Jennifer Lynn Miller of Scottsdale, AZ and purchased by Ivan and Crystal Gandrud of Bismarck, ND. PARTY VISION was purchased by Lonnie Ledbetter of Fort Worth, TX, for $14,000, giving high-selling mare honors to consignor James H. Wild Trust. Jack Bowser consigned the high-selling gelding, HANDY PARDNER, who was purchased for $3,100 by Nick & Amy Kinsch of Arkansas City, KS.

Due to the success of the sale, the ApHC plans on providing more sales and venues to create marketplaces for Appaloosa buyers and sellers. "The ApHC is very delighted with the outstanding response it has had from its members in supporting the 2004 World Sale with quality horses,” says CEO Wayne Hipsley. “As we look to the future, the ApHC needs to continue to support its membership in providing a marketplace for quality horses, while at the same time introducing new audiences to the breed. In 2005, we look forward to another successful World sale adding financial incentive programs for junior horses, while maintaining the availability of a market for breeding and performance horses. The ApHC is out to prove Appaloosas have a strong future, and Appaloosa Pride is alive and well."

LIMITED HALTER FUTURITY
The Limited Halter Futurity kicked off the fourth successful year among Appaloosa halter horse enthusiasts. This year entries competed for more than $11,300 in cash and prizes in open weanling, non-pro yearling and most colorful at halter classes. Winners also received a sterling silver champagne bucket.

The World Champions in the Halter Futurity were as follows:

Non-Pro Yearling Colts -- PRETY DIGNIFIED, owned by Everildo and Ric Jerez of Temple, OK, and Chris Jerez of Addington, OK;

Non-Pro Yearling Fillies -- ALL WAYS POISED, owned by Danny Cardwell of Reidsville, NC;

Toys For Tots Performance
More than 2,000 spectators packed the arena on Saturday night for the Most Colorful at Halter and Freestyle Reining performances. “It was a great audience this year.” said Show Manager Keri LeForce. “This was the final gala performance of the World Show and there were a lot of appreciative spectators who came to be awed by the ability of Appaloosa reining horses and entertained by performances created by Appaloosa exhibitors. And, they got the added treat of seeing our Most Colorful at Halter class, which showcases the varied and beautiful coat patterns that have made Appaloosas famous.”

The U.S. Marine Corps began the evening presenting the colors as well as gathering toys and donations for the Toys for Tots program. This year $1,152 was donated and more than 1,500 toys were given. “One of the reasons our Freestyle Reining performance has been so successful over the years is that, not only do spectators get to see a great show, they get an early dose of holiday spirit by being able to donate to the Toys for Tots program that helps give Fort Worth area children a happier Christmas,“ said Show Manager Keri LeForce. “It makes people feel good to be able to donate to a local charity and support the local community with our presence.”

Holiday shopping sprang forth throughout the week with more than 60 vendors exhibiting a variety of merchandise including jewelry, tack, fine art, clothing, horse trailers, trucks and more at the 2004 World Appaloosa Trade Show.
